I'm all for reading magazines. Ok more to just look at the pictures and get ideas. There are several types of magazines out there to read. You have your choice of fashion, homes and gardens, sports, craft, autos, trashy/sleez, special interest, parenting, teen, and etc.
Today I took autumn to the dentist and I usually grab a parenting magazine and autumn usually heads for the play area. Well this time we both sat disown and I went for my warm hazelnut coffee and she headed to the magazine rack. Thinking she was grabbing my usual choice. She comes back to the couch and instead of handing me the magazine she flips it pen to the first page. I said "what fun crafts do they have in that one" she said "oh this isn't your type of magazine, this is about cars". I thought she was joking and I started reading with her. It was indeed a car magazine.
When I asked her why she chose this particular magazine she said. I want to see what is going on in the car world!
She is 10. She is a girl. Does she know what is under the hood of a car? Does she even know what a hood is? Needless to say I was kind of a little proud! I'm no expert on automobiles but I know more than the average female. I grew up with utahs top mechanic for an uncle, my Rick dad was also in that field for a long time. And not to mention my fair share of cars that I've owned and have fixed in my garage.
I'm proud that my daughters won't fall into the typical stereo type of blonde and girly. I have always tried to teach them that anything they want to do they can and to always try to be independent. Yes it would be nice if they grew up to Mary a wealthy man. But only if they are happy and can bring just as much to the table if not more. I want them to be strong women in everything they do in life!
I want to find that magazine!
