science project & fake sun

I was just online looking for different backgrounds for this blog and found one with a sunflower and thought of one of the many things I thought to my self over the last three weeks of what to blog about. No I still havent had any more coffee, but I had my V8 splash (yummy).

Anywho, Aspen has a science project that was handed out in the end of Jan and is due at the end of March. plant development and consumer product testing is what she is doing. We purchased a pod greenhouse thingy from the store and some natural sunflower seeds and pea seeds and planted tehm in this greenhouse thing. On one half of this thing there is 9 sunflower and 9 peas that are being fed just regular tap water. On the other half there is 9 sunflower seed and 9 pea seeds that are being fed Miricle Grow(MG) and water as instructed by the bottle we give the MG plants about 2 drops directly to the dry soil when needed and water as regular. They need to be in full light so with the weather being so tempermental, I decided to just put them under a reading lamp. works good, keeps them warm plus gives the light.... not real sun but fake sun :)

Needless to say this all happened in a week. surprisingly enough, the just water side is growing faster and stronger than the MG side. hmmmm. So now here is the delema... Its March 8th and well, the project isnt due for another couple of weeks, they are growing out of the greenhouse box and starting to die off slowly. guess I should have started the project closer to the end of Feb.
